Appoints Sandra Calman, MD as Director of Clinical Research for the Solano
Clinical Research Unit
PETALUMA, CA – November 18th 2004: Dow
Pharmaceutical Sciences, specialists in development of topical products for
pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, is pleased to announce the appointment
of Sandra Calman, MD as Director of Clinical Research. Dr. Calman will oversee
management at Dow’s Solano Clinical Research units in Davis and Vallejo,
California.
Dr. Calman brings to Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences more than 12 years of
experience as an investigative research physician and in directing clinical
research activities. She is a seasoned clinical investigator, having served in a
leadership role in over 30 clinical trials, including seven in ophthalmology.
Prior to joining Solano Clinical Research, Dr Calman was Director of Clinical
Research and Practice Management for the Premier Eyecare in San Francisco.
Earlier in her career, she was a partner in the Edmonds Family Medicine Clinic
in Edmonds, WA.

conduct clinical trials for both dermatological and ophthalmological products”

Dr Calman holds an MD degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine and
is a Board Certified Family Practice physician.
Solano Clinical Research, the clinical research arm of Dow Pharmaceutical
Sciences, conducts Phase 1-4 clinical trials at sites in Vallejo and Davis,
California. Dow Pharmaceutical Sciences specializes in the development of
topical products for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, evaluating and
optimizing formulations with assistance from their Skin Biology and Drug
Delivery Laboratory and their Analytical Services Group. Dow also provides early
stage consulting, regulatory strategy and development plans, non-clinical and
clinical study design and management, and all regulatory filings required to
take products through FDA approval.
