DVC Deutsche Venture Capital strengthens its management team in the technology field 19th

– DVC Deutsche Venture Capital, one of Europe’s leading venture capital
companies based in Munich, strengthens its technology team with the appointment
of Bernhard Schmid, former technology expert at Innotech.

Schmid strengthens
DVC’s tech team as partner as of March 2004. He brings ten years of experience
in information and communication technology to the activities of the
internationally renowned venture capital company. Prior to joining DVC he was
(from 1999 up until 2004) partner and technology expert at the venture capital
company Innotech GmbH. From 1994 to 1999 he worked as an investment manager for
Atlas Venture, a globally active venture capital company, where he was in charge
of investments as well as portfolio and exit management for information and
communication technology companies. In
addition to supporting existing portfolio companies, Bernhard Schmid’s
principal role at DVC is to consist in reinforcing new investments in
technological companies with an emphasis on information and communication
technologies. He holds a degree in business administration from the Ludwig
Maximilians University in Munich. “With
the continued expansion of our highly skilled and experienced technology team we
are now in a position to provide young companies with more comprehensive and
greater expert support”, comments Dr. Joerg Neermann, Managing Partner of DVC.

Deutsche Venture Capital,
a leading venture capitalist based in Munich, focuses primarily on European
growth companies in the areas of information, telecommunication, semiconductor
and industrial technologies as well as life sciences. In the field of life
sciences DVC invests in the development of therapeutic and diagnostic products
as well as in platform and medical technologies. DVC’s total administrated
fund volume amounts to 300 million Euro. For investments in private companies,
DVC invests approximately 1 - 10 million Euro as lead investor or, in the case
