GATC and GENOVAC co-operate in the Field of Antibody Production Both Companies envisage a long-term partnership
Constance/Freiburg (June 2, 2003) - GATC Biotech AG, a leading European provider of molecular biological services, and GENOVAC AG, a worldwide leading provider of antibodies by means of genetic immunisation have agreed on a long-term co-operation in the field of antibody production. Consequently both companies jointly offer their complete chain of production - i.e. starting from a specific tissue, and DNA through to antibody production. The co-operation aims at the intensive use of synergy effects arising with both partners. GENOVAC for example will, whenever necessary, out-source the critical step of cloning a custom specific cDNA into one of its proprietary immunisation vectors to GATC, whereas GATC is complementing its own broad range of molecular biological services with GENOVAC's innovative technology for antibody production.
Peter Pohl, CEO of GATC Biotech, stresses the need for this co-operation: "Thanks to this co-operation another very important molecular biological service component was added to our service portfolio. GENOVAC on their part, trust in our expertise in the fields of cloning, sequencing and bioinformatics. We on our part are very pleased to be in a position to offer our customers a service for the generation of antibodies by a company that excites with innovative products."

GATC Biotech AG:
GATC Biotech AG, seated in Constance, is a leading provider of molecular biological services and innovative bioinformatics solutions to the industry and academia in Europe and beyond. GATC enables its customers, to quickly, efficiently, economically and successfully complete their Genomics Projects.
GENOVAC AG:
GENOVAC AG, seated in Freiburg, is a worldwide market leader in the area of antibody production by means of genetic immunisation. The Company has developed a unique proprietary screening technology, by which antibodies against native proteins can be identified without previous time-consuming purification of the proteins in question. For the first time this method allows both, the cloning and the screening of monoclonal antibodies based on genetic immunisation. Consequently GENOVAC's technology is particularly suited for the rapid development of clinically relevant and valuable antibodies against selected proteins.
