All-in-one centrifuge-vortex mixers from Grant … December
2003 The
two ultra-compact models offer maximum flexibility, each complete with two
interchangeable rotors for accommodating 1.5, 0.5 and 0.2 ml microtubes. The
competitively priced PCV-2400 Combi- spin
can be used for vortex mixing of an individual tube concurrently with spinning
of multiple tubes and is particularly suitable for low sample volumes. Grant’s
high performance PCV-3000 Multi-spin enables
consecutive spin and mix phases of multiple tubes. The
innovative PCV-3000 is amazingly quiet in operation, with a two
line display and touch sensitive keys for easy set-up and use. Tubes can be
loaded into the rotor and spun at adjustable speeds over a range from 1000 to
3500 rpm, and remain in position for vortex mixing. The programmable unit allows
accurate setting of spin speed and mixing level and a time setting for each. The
‘spin and mix’ operations can be linked, and a sequence of linked cycles may
be repeated up to 999 times. Both
models are robustly built, with attractive styling and a low profile and small
footprint. A safety interlock stops the rotor when the lid is opened. They not
only look great on the bench but they can be used in a cold room or incubator
with an operating ambient temperature range of 4 ºC to 45 ºC.
The
centrifuge-vortex mixers are especially suitable for ‘spin-mix-spin’
applications, as used in a number of scientific fields such as biochemistry,
diagnostics and immunology. They are particularly useful for applications such
as preparing samples prior to PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis and enzyme
reactions. A
selection of rotor options is available which accommodate various combinations
of tubes and 0.2ml microtube strips. The two centrifuge-vortex mixer units form
