Haptogen announce landmark collaboration with DaeWoong Pharmaceuticals to
develop novel anti-infectives

Haptogen Ltd (Aberdeen, Scotland) announces the signing of a major new
collaborative research agreement with leading Korean pharmaceutical
company DaeWoong Pharmaceutical Company Ltd (Seoul, Korea). The long-term
agreement will combine Haptogen’s novel discovery approach with the
formulation, manufacturing and marketing expertise of DaeWoong in order to
progress the clinical development of a number of novel antibody
therapeutics, targeted at important bacterial infections.
Haptogen is a rapidly growing company that specialises in the discovery of
antibodies targeted against the smallest of small molecules – haptens and
haptenic structures.
The company has previously demonstrated the potential of its pioneering
Haptomics® approach, novel display platform (DBDX™) and unique ‘Forced
Epitope Selection’ methodology to discover lead antibodies that have shown
significant potential in in-vitro, ex-vivo and in-vivo models. In the
first three years of the new collaboration the partners will capitalise on
specific areas of Haptogen’s drug development pipeline. The partners
expect to have a product in the clinic during the term of the agreement.

The current global market for anti-infectives is estimated at over $37
billion. Antibacterial drugs make up over 60% of this market, forming the
third largest category of marketed pharmaceuticals. Growth is predicted at
between 2 and 10% per annum.
