Inpharmatica Announces
Chematica(TM) Collaboration with Tibotec Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Tibotec Pharmaceuticals Ltd. will apply
Inpharmatica's Chematica technologies to identify molecular targets for
anti-viral compounds
London, UK, 1 August 2005 - Inpharmatica Ltd, a leading provider of
drug discovery technologies and services, today announces a collaboration
with Tibotec Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a pharmaceutical research and
development company dedicated to the discovery and development of
innovative drugs for HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. Tibotec will
use Inpharmatica's Chematica technologies to identify the molecular basis
for the actions of compounds shown to have anti-viral activity in cell
based assays. Headquartered in Belgium with operations in Ireland and the
US, Tibotec is part of Johnson & Johnson.
Inpharmatica's Chematica technologies, including StARLITe(TM) and
DrugStore(TM), use Inpharmatica's proprietary databases and know-how to
link compounds with putative molecular targets. Tibotec will use this
technology to advance drug research projects by identifying molecular
targets, screening assays and alternative indications for bioactive
compounds discovered at Tibotec. The financial terms of the non-exclusive
agreement with Tibotec are not disclosed.
Chematica is an integral component of Inpharmatica's gene-to-candidate
technology platform which integrates biology- and chemistry-based drug
discovery activities. This platform optimises target selection based on
druggability, and enables rapid identification of hits and selection of
high quality leads and pre-clinical candidates, which are prioritised on
the basis of good drug-like characteristics and clinical indication.
Commenting on the announcement, John Lisle, CEO of Inpharmatica, said:
