Rubicon Genomics, Inc. today announced the launch of their GenomePlex™ whole genome amplification (WGA) point of use kit

Ann Arbor, MI, November 10, 2003—Rubicon Genomics, Inc. today announced the launch of their GenomePlex™ whole genome amplification (WGA) point of use kit applications in the research market.  The GenomePlex kits will complement Rubicon’s WGA in-house service business that was launched earlier this year.  Rubicon’s proprietary in-vitro method to convert very small amounts of genomic DNA into OmniPlex™ amplifiable libraries has powerful applications in research, pharmacogenomics, molecular diagnostics, and forensics.

The GenomePlex kits provide the same high quality results as the Rubicon WGA services, but focus on the most common samples sizes and concentrations.  They are designed for ready to use WGA at pharmaceutical companies, institutions and universities, who are unable to use the WGA custom amplification services because of time, cost, or prohibition of export of patient samples.

The first launched GenomePlex kits contain proprietary reagents and protocol sufficient for 50 WGA reactions, each generating up to 10 mg of amplified DNA in less than 4 hours. The GenomePlex protocol is simple yet robust and the amplified DNA has been validated on multiple high throughput genotyping and sequencing platforms.  Unlike most existing WGA methods, amplification product is not detected using GenomePlex in the absence of input DNA.  The high quality of GenomePlex amplified DNA will support high quality genetic analysis.

“Rubicon continues to execute its strategy to become the industry standard for managing genetic resources,” said Fred G. Beyerlein, president and chief executive officer of Rubicon.  “With the roll out of our GenomePlex amplification kits we are looking to reach another tier of our target market and put our products in the hands of the actual users.  The knowledge and experience we have gained in our service business, in cooperation with our clients, has enabled us to put a superior product on the market”.

Extending from the success of the WGA services, Rubicon is committed to providing the best products and services in whole genome amplification by making GenomePlex kits available for the general research community.  GenomePlex kits offers end users an easy to use, rapid turnaround (less than 4 hours) means to generate high quality amplified DNA sufficient for any genomic research.  For details of our product or service orderings, please visit Rubicon website: www.rubicongenomics.com or contact Rubicon at Telephone: (734)-677-6219, Facsimile: (734)-477-9902 or Email: kits@rubicongenomics.com.
