Exclusive Cooperation Between RZPD and
NimbleGen Systems Enables Faster and More Flexible Microarray Analyses
Berlin (December 10, 2004) - RZPD
Deutsches Ressourcenzentrum für Genomforschung GmbH (German Resource Center for
Genome Research) will be the exclusive distributor in
Germany and Austria of microarray analysis services by US-based NimbleGen
Systems Inc. Using its proprietary Maskless Array Synthesis (MAS) technology,
NimbleGen produces custom high-density DNA microarrays, which are offered within
a complete service that includes chip design, sample preparation (optional),
hybridization, scanning, data extraction, and preliminary data analysis. RZPD
customers thereby gain access to research services that enable a highly flexible
array design and fast and efficient studies with customized high-density DNA
chips.
Researchers can choose from a range of more than 125 microarray catalog designs
for prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, or have their microarray custom
designed for little to no extra cost. NimbleGen microarrays contain up to
390,000 oligo-nucleotides, which can be between 24-70 nucleotides long, and
there are no minimum orders or set-up charges. This unique combination opens up
various fields of application:
- Gene expression analyses for the determination of gene activity (e.g.
differential gene expression between diseased and healthy tissue) - also
available as multiplex experiments with several analyses on a single chip
- Chromatin immuno-precipitation (ChIP) experiments for mapping of protein
binding sites or determination of the chromatin structure
- Comparative genomic hybridization and comparative genomic re-sequencing for
identification of genetic variations
NimbleGen.s MAS technology uses 780,000 individually controllable micro-mirrors
on a computer chip to generate light patterns for oligo synthesis. This
technology allows for extremely economical design and fabrication of customized
DNA microarrays.
