Sentrx Announces the Appointment of Joseph Albano as CEO

Little Falls, NJ - August 15, 2003 - Sentrx, a leading provider of drug safety solutions, has promoted Joseph Albano to Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. He replaces co-founder Michael Sugerman, who will continue to serve as a strategic advisor.

Mr. Albano earned an MBA from Long Island University. He began his career with American Express, where he held positions of increasing responsibility and gained expertise in designing and managing large telephone service organizations that became the model in the financial services industry for quality, service and efficiency. 

He then moved to Merck-Medco Managed Care, a leading pharmaceutical benefits manager. During his 12-year tenure there, he was successful in improving efficiencies, expanding revenues and accelerating growth across a range of functions, encompassing operations, member services and client services. He was the catalyst for developing and installing automated workflow and other technologies that continually improved operating efficiencies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Mr. Albano also performed international business development activities for the parent company Merck, exploring managed care opportunities in the global market. Prior to joining Sentrx, he served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Accounts at WebMD. There he was instrumental in retaining and growing revenue with key accounts, even as a complex corporate merger was taking place.

As COO of Sentrx for the past 18 months, Mr. Albano has been responsible for the delivery of drug safety services to some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, implementing high standards for quality and customer service. During this time, the volume of adverse events that Sentrx processes each year has grown from an average of 10,000 to nearly 30,000. The company has also expanded its risk management offerings and performed over 15,000 patient interviews year-to-date, proactively monitoring events of interest from pharmaceutical product usage with its unique Outreach Risk Surveillance program. Mr. Albano has implemented quality processes and workflow technology that provides Sentrx with the scalability and flexibility to provide consistent service in an environment characterized by variability.
