From Formula One to Drug Discovery, Stephen Guy Joins TAP for Fast Moving Technology

(Cambridge UK, Sept 30, 2002)  The Automation Partnership (TAP), suppliers of advanced automated systems, has announced that Stephen Guy has been appointed as Technology Line Manager, to formulate technology strategy for drug discovery, cell culture and genomics.

With Cambridge’s international status as a centre of excellence for innovative technologies, Stephen has forged a reputation for working on dynamic and interesting projects for organisations such as Formula One and the European Space Agency.  Stephen is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

Commenting on his move to TAP, Stephen said “I have a passion for innovative technology and feel that moving to TAP is a logical progression in my career, combining my knowledge of robotics and instrumentation with TAP’s cutting edge technology.”

Stephen has worked in the Cambridge area for five years including positions with Pi Research, where he worked on application software for the Stewart F1 team and contributed to the technology strategy for the World Rally Championship, and Oxford Instruments, where he headed a team of scientists and engineers working on space and mass spectrometry applications.  Stephen was most recently with Nexan Ltd, as R&D Manager heading a team of 16 engineers, on the development of a ‘patient-at-home’ tele-monitoring system.

Steve Owen, TAP’s Chief Technology Officer, commented on Stephen’s appointment, “Stephen brings his unique experience of working on out-of-the-ordinary projects and pushing technology forward, which is something that we take pride in at TAP.  He also has a great track record for forming and managing innovative and specialist teams of engineers.”
