SEATTLE
– August 2003 – The
Washington Biotechnology & Biomedical Association (WBBA) in
collaboration with BC Biotech, BioAlberta and the Oregon Biosciences
Association will host its third CEO and investor conference March 22 and
23, 2004 at Bell Harbor Conference Center in downtown Seattle. Invest
NorthwestTM is a two-day forum for institutional investors,
pension fund managers, analysts, investment bankers, venture capitalists,
angel investors and pharmaceutical and biotech corporate partners to meet
with CEOs and senior executives from public and private life sciences
companies based in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia
and Alberta. The
forum will feature presentations from more than 60 companies, highlighting
the innovative research and science that has established the Pacific
Northwest as one of the nation’s leading bioscience regions.
The event also provides networking opportunities for leaders in the
life science industry and financial community. Last
year’s Invest Northwest conference attracted 550 people. Sixty-five
companies presented at the 2003 conference, of which 27 were public and 38
were private. Collectively, the Pacific Northwest region is home to nearly
300 companies involved in the development and commercialization of new
therapeutics, diagnostics, vaccines and medical devices. These companies
develop and apply cutting-edge technologies including bioinformatics,
genomics, proteomics and other drug discovery platforms to address a wide
array of important medical conditions and public health concerns.
