Analysis of Serial Ovarian Volume Measurements and Incidence of Ovarian Cancer: Implications for Pathogenesis.

Accumulating evidence suggests that many ovarian cancers represent metastases from occult fallopian tube carcinomas or tumors arising within ovarian endometriosis. We hypothesized that small ovarian v...

Potentially lethal pharyngolaryngeal edema with dyspnea in adult patients with mumps: A series of 5 cases.

In this article we describe 5 rare cases of mumps-associated pharyngolaryngeal edema. To the best of our knowledge, this report includes the first case of mumps-associated pharyngolaryngeal edema in a...

Metadherin, p50, and p65 Expression in Epithelial Ovarian Neoplasms: An Immunohistochemical Study.

NF- κ B signaling promotes cancer progression in a large number of malignancies. Metadherin, a coactivator of the NF- κ B transcription complex, was recently identified to regulate different signali...

Role of vitamin D in ovarian physiology and its implication in reproduction: a systematic review.

To report an update on the role of vitamin D (VD) in ovarian physiology with a focus on genes involved in steroidogenesis, follicular development, and ovarian reserve, as well as ovulatory dysfunction...

Postobstructive Pulmonary Edema in the Setting of Aspiration and Air Travel.

Postobstructive pulmonary edema (POPE)-also referred to as negative pressure pulmonary edema-occurs with deep inspiration against a closed glottis or obstructed airway. The result can be life threaten...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

A complication of OVULATION INDUCTION in infertility treatment. It is graded by the severity of symptoms which include OVARY enlargement, multiple OVARIAN FOLLICLES; OVARIAN CYSTS; ASCITES; and generalized EDEMA. The full-blown syndrome may lead to RENAL FAILURE, respiratory distress, and even DEATH. Increased capillary permeability is caused by the vasoactive substances, such as VASCULAR ENDOTHELIAL GROWTH FACTORS, secreted by the overly-stimulated OVARIES.

Cessation of ovarian function after MENARCHE but before the age of 40, without or with OVARIAN FOLLICLE depletion. It is characterized by the presence of OLIGOMENORRHEA or AMENORRHEA, elevated GONADOTROPINS, and low ESTRADIOL levels. It is a state of female HYPERGONADOTROPIC HYPOGONADISM. Etiologies include genetic defects, autoimmune processes, chemotherapy, radiation, and infections.

Methods used for assessment of ovarian function.

Abnormal fluid accumulation in TISSUES or body cavities. Most cases of edema are present under the SKIN in SUBCUTANEOUS TISSUE.
