Predictive measure of quality of micromixing.

17:06 EDT 25th May 2013 | BioPortfolio

Summary of "Predictive measure of quality of micromixing."

We introduce a predictive measure of micromixing termed quantitative overlap (QO). QO depends on the distribution of reactants throughout the reactor and can be calculated by solving equations of diffusion. We used a bimolecular reaction and a capillary microreactor to experimentally prove that QO is proportional to the product yield.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Predictive Value Of Tests

In screening and diagnostic tests, the probability that a person with a positive test is a true positive (i.e., has the disease), is referred to as the predictive value of a positive test; whereas, the predictive value of a negative test is the probability that the person with a negative test does not have the disease. Predictive value is related to the sensitivity and specificity of the test.

Treatment Failure

A measure of the quality of health care by assessment of unsuccessful results of management and procedures used in combating disease, in individual cases or series.

Reference Standards

A basis of value established for the measure of quantity, weight, extent or quality, e.g. weight standards, standard solutions, methods, techniques, and procedures used in diagnosis and therapy.

Flowmeters

Devices used to measure the flow of fluids (see RHEOLOGY) or the AIR to measure RESPIRATION.

Quality Improvement

The attainment or process of attaining a new level of performance or quality.
