Summary of "Investigating the Role of Grain Boundaries in CZTS and CZTSSe Thin Film Solar Cells with Scanning Probe Microscopy."

Scanning Kelvin probe microscopy (SKPM) measurements reveal a higher positive surface potential at the grain boundaries (GBs) as compared to the grain while conductive atomic force microscopy (C-AFM) measurements show higher current flow in the vicinity of the GBs of Cu(2) ZnSnS(4) (CZTS) and Cu(2) ZnSn(S,Se)(4) (CZTSSe). These results demonstrate the enhanced minority carrier collection taking place at the GBs of CZTS and CZTSSe.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Pleura

The thin serous membrane enveloping the lungs (LUNG) and lining the THORACIC CAVITY. Pleura consist of two layers, the inner visceral pleura lying next to the pulmonary parenchyma and the outer parietal pleura. Between the two layers is the PLEURAL CAVITY which contains a thin film of liquid.

Film Dosimetry

Use of a device (film badge) for measuring exposure of individuals to radiation. It is usually made of metal, plastic, or paper and loaded with one or more pieces of x-ray film.

X-ray Film

A film base coated with an emulsion designed for use with x-rays.

Secale Cereale

A hardy grain crop, rye, grown in northern climates. It is the most frequent host to ergot (CLAVICEPS), the toxic fungus. Its hybrid with TRITICUM is TRITICALE, another grain.

Dental Pellicle

A thin protein film on the surface of DENTAL ENAMEL. It is widely believed to result from the selective adsorption of precursor proteins present in SALIVA onto tooth surfaces, and to reduce microbial adherence to the TEETH.

Synthesis of Cu2ZnSnS4 thin films by a precursor solution paste for thin film solar cell applications.

Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) is a very promising semiconductor material when used for the absorber layer of thin film solar cells because it consists of only abundant and inexpensive elements. In addition, a low-...

Compositionally Tunable Cu(2)ZnSn(S(1-x)Se(x))(4) Nanocrystals: Probing the Effect of Se-Inclusion in Mixed Chalcogenide Thin Films.

Nanocrystals of multicomponent chalcogenides, such as Cu(2)ZnSnS(4) (CZTS), are potential building blocks for low-cost thin-film photovoltaics (PVs). CZTS PV devices with modest efficiencies have been...

High-Efficiency Solution-Processed Cu(2)ZnSn(S,Se)(4) Thin-Film Solar Cells Prepared from Binary and Ternary Nanoparticles.

A new solution-based method to fabricate Cu(2)ZnSn(S,Se)(4) (CZTSSe) thin films is presented. Binary and ternary chalcogenide nanoparticles were synthesized and used as precursors to form CZTSSe thin...
