Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Carpal Joints
The articulations between the various CARPAL BONES. This does not include the WRIST JOINT which consists of the articulations between the RADIUS; ULNA; and proximal CARPAL BONES.
Microsatellite Instability
The occurrence of highly polymorphic mono- and dinucleotide MICROSATELLITE REPEATS in somatic cells. It is a form of genome instability associated with defects in DNA MISMATCH REPAIR.
Arthropathy, Neurogenic
Chronic progressive degeneration of the stress-bearing portion of a joint, with bizarre hypertrophic changes at the periphery. It is probably a complication of a variety of neurologic disorders, particularly TABES DORSALIS, involving loss of sensation, which leads to relaxation of supporting structures and chronic instability of the joint. (Dorland, 27th ed)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Entrapment of the MEDIAN NERVE in the carpal tunnel, which is formed by the flexor retinaculum and the CARPAL BONES. This syndrome may be associated with repetitive occupational trauma (CUMULATIVE TRAUMA DISORDERS); wrist injuries; AMYLOID NEUROPATHIES; rheumatoid arthritis (see ARTHRITIS, RHEUMATOID); ACROMEGALY; PREGNANCY; and other conditions. Symptoms include burning pain and paresthesias involving the ventral surface of the hand and fingers which may radiate proximally. Impairment of sensation in the distribution of the median nerve and thenar muscle atrophy may occur. (Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1995, Ch51, p45)

Bilateral perilunar fracture luxation in a patient with multiple trauma.
We present the case of a 37-year-old, multiply injured man who sustained a bilateral perilunar fracture dislocation after a 6 m fall. The fracture dislocations were diagnosed by standard radiographs....
Prevalence of carpal fracture in singapore.
To determine the prevalence of carpal fracture in Singapore, to compare demographic differences between isolated scaphoid and other carpal fractures, and to identify parameters associated with multipl...
Geoffrey Fisk and a hitherto unknown contribution to the treatment of carpal instability.
We describe two films made by Geoffrey Fisk in 1973 that record midcarpal instability and its surgical treatment.
We recently reported on the deficiency of carbohydrate sulfotransferase 3 (CHST3; chondroitin-6-sulfotransferase) in six subjects diagnosed with recessive Larsen syndrome or humero-spinal dysostosis [...

Nerve Entrapment in Diabetic Patients
The aim of this study is in a prospective, consecutive series of diabetic patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, who are then age and gender matched with non-diabetic patients having idiopa...

Post-operative Mobilization for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This study will investigate the effect of one week of immobilization following carpal tunnel release surgery versus no immobilization.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common peripheral nerve entrapment. Diagnosis is based on symptoms, clinical findings and electrophysiological examination. Several conservative an...
Shoulder Proprioception Following Open and Arthroscopic Instability Repair
