Alkali-metal mediated reactivity of a diaminobromoborane: mono- and bis-borylation of naphthalene versus boryl lithium or hydroborane formation.
Summary of "Alkali-metal mediated reactivity of a diaminobromoborane: mono- and bis-borylation of naphthalene versus boryl lithium or hydroborane formation."
Reaction of lithium with PDABBr [PDA = C(6)H(4)-1,2-(NTripp)(2), Tripp = 2,4,6-Pr(i)(3)C(6)H(2)] and naphthalene afforded 2- and 2,6-borylated naphthalenes; conversely, use of high-sodium lithium (0.5% Na) afforded the lithium boryl [(PDAB)Li(THF)(2)]; this work establishes that main group reagents can achieve selective borylations of fused polycyclic aromatics under mild conditions in good yields.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Metals, Alkali
Metals that constitute group 1(formerly group Ia) of the periodic table. They are the most strongly electropositive of the metals. Note that HYDROGEN is not considered an alkali metal even though it falls under the group 1 heading in the periodic table.
Hypersensitivity, Delayed
An increased reactivity to specific antigens mediated not by antibodies but by cells.
Transplantation Tolerance
An induced state of non-reactivity to grafted tissue from a donor organism that would ordinarily trigger a cell-mediated or humoral immune response.
Rubidium
An element that is an alkali metal. It has an atomic symbol Rb, atomic number 37, and atomic weight 85.47. It is used as a chemical reagent and in the manufacture of photoelectric cells.
Francium
Francium. A radioactive alkali metal with the atomic symbol Fr, atomic number 87, and atomic weight 223. The mass numbers of other known isotopes are 204-213, 217-222, and 224. Its valence is +1.
