Insight into pressure drop dependent efficiencies of dry powder inhalers.
Summary of "Insight into pressure drop dependent efficiencies of dry powder inhalers."
The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of three commercial capsule-based dry powder passive inhalers [Rotahaler® (RH), Monodose Inhaler® (MI) and Handihaler® (HH)] in de-agglomerating salbutamol sulphate (SS) and micronized lactose (LH300) powders and their sensitivity to air flow rate changes and air flow resistance.

Dry Powder Inhalers
A device that delivers medication to the lungs in the form of a dry powder.
A significant drop in BLOOD PRESSURE after assuming a standing position. Orthostatic hypotension is a finding, and defined as a 20-mm Hg decrease in systolic pressure or a 10-mm Hg decrease in diastolic pressure 3 minutes after the person has risen from supine to standing. Symptoms generally include DIZZINESS, blurred vision, and SYNCOPE.
The administration of therapeutic agents drop by drop, as eye drops, ear drops, or nose drops. It is also administered into a body space or cavity through a catheter. It differs from irrigation in that the irrigate is removed within minutes, but the instillate is left in place.
Method of using a polycrystalline powder and Rietveld refinement (LEAST SQUARES ANALYSIS) of X-RAY DIFFRACTION or NEUTRON DIFFRACTION. It circumvents the difficulties of producing single large crystals.
The blood pressure in the VEINS. It is usually measured to assess the filling PRESSURE to the HEART VENTRICLE.
Importance of the field: The understanding of pulmonary drug delivery and thus its utilization for medical purposes has remarkably advanced over the last decades. It has been recognized that this rout...
Temperature-dependent synchrotron powder diffraction on Cs(0.83)(Fe(0.86)Se)(2) revealed first-order I4/m to I4/mmm structural transformation around 216 °C associated with a disorder of the Fe vacanc...
This study investigated the effect of modifying the design of the Cyclohaler on its aerosolization performance and comparability to the HandiHaler at multiple flow rates. The Cyclohaler and HandiHaler...
The pressure drop and temperature drop on columns packed with 3- and 5-micron particles were measured using neat CO(2) at a flow rate of 5mL/min, at temperatures from 20°C to 100°C, and outlet press...
Dry Powder Inhalers have drawn great attention from pharmaceutical scientists in recent years in particular those consisting of low-dose micronized drug particles associated with larger carrier partic...
Effect of inhaled drugs administered as dry powder is not only dependent on drug efficacy but also on technical properties of the inhalers. Different inhalers have different internal resis...
Adequate administration of drugs via dry powder inhalers is dependent on adequate inspiratory flow rates and volumes. These vary according to the device being used and its resistance. The...
Assessment of the inhalation profiles of four dry powder inhalers in patients with variable degrees of lung obstruction
The purpose of this study is to investigate the time course of PF-04764793 concentration in the blood following dosing by oral inhalation from dry powder inhalers.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the time course of PF-00241939 concentrations in the blood following dosing by oral inhalation using dry powder inhalers.
