Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Alveolar Ridge Augmentation

Preprosthetic surgery involving rib, cartilage, or iliac crest bone grafts, usually autologous, or synthetic implants for rebuilding the alveolar ridge.

Transverse Sinuses

The two large endothelium-lined venous channels that begin at the internal occipital protuberance at the back and lower part of the CRANIUM and travels laterally and forward ending in the internal jugular vein (JUGULAR VEINS). One of the transverse sinuses, usually the right one, is the continuation of the SUPERIOR SAGITTAL SINUS. The other transverse sinus is the continuation of the straight sinus.

Hydatidiform Mole

Trophoblastic hyperplasia associated with normal gestation, or molar pregnancy. It is characterized by the swelling of the CHORIONIC VILLI and elevated human CHORIONIC GONADOTROPIN. Hydatidiform moles or molar pregnancy may be categorized as complete or partial based on their gross morphology, histopathology, and karyotype.

Alveoloplasty

Conservative contouring of the alveolar process, in preparation for immediate or future denture construction. (Dorland, 28th ed)

Myelitis, Transverse

Inflammation of a transverse portion of the spinal cord characterized by acute or subacute segmental demyelination or necrosis. The condition may occur sporadically, follow an infection or vaccination, or present as a paraneoplastic syndrome (see also ENCEPHALOMYELITIS, ACUTE DISSEMINATED). Clinical manifestations include motor weakness, sensory loss, and incontinence. (Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp1242-6)

Ridge dimensions of the edentulous posterior maxilla: a retrospective analysis of a cohort of 127 patients using computerized tomography data.

Objectives: To evaluate the edentulous ridge dimensions of maxillary posterior sextants with a tridimensional radiographic technique. The influence of the presence/absence of teeth adjacent to the ede...

Influence of a proximal margin elevation technique on marginal adaptation of ceramic inlays.

Abstract Purpose. Evaluating the effect of a proximal margin elevation technique on marginal adaptation of ceramic inlays. Methods. Class II MOD-cavities were prepared in 40 human molars and randomly...

Alveolar ridge dimensions in maxillary posterior sextants: a retrospective comparative study of dentate and edentulous sites using computerized tomography data.

Aim: To compare the alveolar ridge dimensions between edentulous sites and contralateral dentate sites of maxillary posterior sextants in the same individuals. Materials and methods: Computerized tomo...

Triangulating Stapling Technique for Anastomosis in Laparoscopy-Assisted Pylorus-Preserving Gastrectomy.

Background/Aims: The anastomosis performed during laparoscopy-assisted pylorus-preserving gastrectomy (PPG) is usually handsewn; however, the technique is sometimes difficult because it is done throug...

Influence of ultrasound application on inlays luting with self-adhesive resin cements.

The study was aimed at assessing the influence of the cement manipulation and ultrasounds application on the bonding potential of self-adhesive resin cements to dentin by microtensile bond strength te...
