Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

Coronary Vasospasm

Spasm of the large- or medium-sized coronary arteries.

Amyl Nitrite

A vasodilator that is administered by inhalation. It is also used recreationally due to its supposed ability to induce euphoria and act as an aphrodisiac.

Coronary Aneurysm

Abnormal balloon- or sac-like dilatation in the wall of CORONARY VESSELS. Most coronary aneurysms are due to CORONARY ATHEROSCLEROSIS, and the rest are due to inflammatory diseases, such as KAWASAKI DISEASE.

Coronary Vessel Anomalies

Malformations of CORONARY VESSELS, either arteries or veins. Included are anomalous origins of coronary arteries; ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA; CORONARY ANEURYSM; MYOCARDIAL BRIDGING; and others.

Nitrite Reductases

A group of enzymes that oxidize diverse nitrogenous substances to yield nitrite. (Enzyme Nomenclature, 1992) EC 1.

Does amyl nitrite have a role in the management of pre-hospital mass casualty cyanide poisoning?

Context. Amyl nitrite has been recommended as a cyanide antidote for several decades. Its antidotal properties were initially attributed to induction of methemoglobin and later to a nitric oxide media...

Potential role of CD34 in cerebral vasospasm after experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage in rats.

Inflammatory responses have been implicated in the elaboration of several forms of central nervous system injury, including cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). A critical event par...

Cardiac arrest caused by coronary arterial vasospasm.

Coronary arterial vasospasm may be associated with acute myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation as well as sudden death. Two case reports describing coronary vasospasm leading...

Diffuse Cerebral Vasospasm After Resection of a Posterior Fossa Ependymoma.

BACKGROUND: Diffuse cerebral vasospasm after brain tumor resection is rare. This is the first report of diffuse cerebral vasospasm following resection of a posterior fossa ependymoma. Various etiologi...

Treatment Options for Cerebral Vasospasm in Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.

Cerebral vasospasm occurs frequently after aneurysmal subarachnoid and contributes to delayed cerebral ischemia. In this article we address systematic problems with the literature on vasospasm and the...

Safety and Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of Nitrite for Prevention of Cerebral Vasospasm

The purpose of the study is to examine the safety of a 14 day infusion of sodium nitrite, and to study the pharmacokinetics of nitrite, during a 14 day infusion in patients with ruptured c...

Eicosapentaenoic Acid Cerebral Vasospasm Therapy Study

Cerebral vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is the most common cause of morbidity and mortality. Recent studies indicate that Rho-kinase play an important role in the occurr...

Computed Tomographic (CT) Perfusion and CT Angiography as Screening Tools for Vasospasm Following Subarachnoid Hemorrhage

Cerebral vasospasm is a devastating complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage after cerebral aneurysm rupture leading to cerebral ischemia and potentially cerebral infarction. The current g...

Clazosentan in Reducing Vasospasm-related Morbidity and All-cause Mortality in Adult Patients With Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Treated by Surgical Clipping

The aim of this study is to demonstrate that clazosentan, administered as a continuous intravenous infusion at 5 mg/h until Day 14 post aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH), reduces t...

Therapeutic Effect of Sildenafil in Patients With Coronary Vasospasm
