Comparison of a Spectral OCT/SLO With the Stratus OCT for Imaging Various Retinal Pathologies
Summary
The purpose of this study is to compare the newly released Spectral OCT/SLO (OTI, Toronto, Canada) with the Zeiss Stratus OCT (Carl-Zeiss Meditec, Dublin, CA) with regards to the quality of the images obtained as well as the ease of use.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Geographic Atrophy
A form of MACULAR DEGENERATION also known as dry macular degeneration marked by occurrence of a well-defined progressive lesion or atrophy in the central part of the RETINA called the MACULA LUTEA. It is distinguishable from WET MACULAR DEGENERATION in that the latter involves neovascular exudates.
Macular Edema
Fluid accumulation in the outer layer of the MACULA LUTEA that results from intraocular or systemic insults. It may develop in a diffuse pattern where the macula appears thickened or it may acquire the characteristic petaloid appearance referred to as cystoid macular edema. Although macular edema may be associated with various underlying conditions, it is most commonly seen following intraocular surgery, venous occlusive disease, DIABETIC RETINOPATHY, and posterior segment inflammatory disease. (From Survey of Ophthalmology 2004; 49(5) 470-90)
Vitreoretinal Surgery
Specialized ophthalmic technique used in the surgical repair and or treatment of disorders that include retinal tears or detachment; MACULAR HOLES; hereditary retinal disease; AIDS-related retinal infections; ocular tumors; MACULAR DEGENERATION; DIABETIC RETINOPATHY; and UVEITIS.
Esophageal Perforation
An opening or hole in the ESOPHAGUS that is caused by TRAUMA, injury, or pathological process.
Uterine Perforation
A hole or break through the wall of the UTERUS, usually made by the placement of an instrument or INTRAUTERINE DEVICES.
Clinical Trials
Combined Versus Successive Macular Hole and Cataract Surgery
The purpose of this study is to compare functional and anatomical results of a combined surgery and two time surgery for macular hole and cataract extraction in one hundred and twenty pati...
Full Thickness Macular Hole and Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling Study
A macular hole is a fairly common problem in the retina and is an important cause of loss of central vision. The aim of this study is to determine whether, in patients with a stage 2 or 3...
Microperimetry and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in Idiopathic Macular Hole
To evaluate the correlations between anatomical and functional changes studied with microperimetry (MPM) and spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT) in patients after successful repair of idiopathic...
Early Vitrectomy for Impending Macular Hole
This study is designed to verify hypothesis that early vitrectomy may prevent impending macular hole from progression to full-thickness macular hole.
Alleviated Positioning for Small Macular Holes
Rational of the study: There are arguments to think that the closure of macular holes can be obtained without a strict positioning under certain conditions, i.e. hole size ≤ 400 µm, if...
