A Comparison of Methotrexate Alone or Combined to Infliximab or to Pulse Methylprednisolone in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study

The purpose of the study is to compare the effects of methotrexate (MTX) alone or in combination with intravenous (IV) methylprednisolone (MP) or infliximab (IFX) on MRI-detected synovitis...

Abatacept and Infliximab in Combination With Methotrexate in Subjects With Rheumatoid Arthritis

The purpose of this clinical research study is to learn if Abatacept in combination with Methotrexate and Infliximab demonstrate a greater reduction in disease activity over placebo.

The Effects of Infliximab Versus Methotrexate in the Treatment of Moderate to Severe Psoriasis (Study P04271AM2)(COMPLETED)

This is a Phase 3b, randomized, parallel-group, multicenter, active-controlled, open-label study of the efficacy and safety of infliximab compared with methotrexate (MTX) in the treatment ...

Infliximab Plus Methotrexate for the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of infliximab (an anti-TNF chimeric monoclonal antibody [cA2]) in patients with active Rheumatoid Arthritis, despite m...

A Study of the Safety and Effectiveness of Infliximab for the Treatment of Psoriatic Arthritis

The purpose of this study is to determine if Infliximab is safe and effective in the treatment of psoriatic arthritis. Infliximab (Remicade) targets specific proteins in the body's immune ...

Cost-effectiveness of infliximab versus conventional combination treatment in methotrexate-refractory early rheumatoid arthritis: 2-year results of the register-enriched randomised controlled SWEFOT trial.

To estimate the incremental cost-effectiveness of infliximab versus conventional combination treatment over 21 months in patients with methotrexate-refractory early rheumatoid arthritis.

Efficacy of methotrexate and tumor necrosis factor inhibitors in Japanese patients with active psoriatic arthritis.

Objective. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of oral methotrexate and tumor necrosis factor inhibitors in Japanese patients with active psoriatic arthritis. Methods. We retrospectively ...

Methotrexate and lung disease in rheumatoid arthritis: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Methotrexate has shown efficacy for the treatment of several diseases, especially rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methotrexate has also been implicated as a causative agent in interstitial lung disease. Pa...

Nearly Pain-Free Self-administration of Subcutaneous Methotrexate With an Autoinjector: Results of a Phase 2 Clinical Trial in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Who Have Functional Limitations.

A methotrexate autoinjector (MTXAI) was developed for self-administration of subcutaneous (SC) methotrexate by patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The MTXAI circumvents the need for vials, needle...

High serum level of haptoglobin is associated with the response of 12 weeks methotrexate therapy in recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis patients.

We previously found, using microarray, haptoglobin (HP) expression signal was 5.1-fold increased in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from methotrexate (MTX)-resistant rheumatoid arthritis (R...

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions

An antineoplastic antimetabolite with immunosuppressant properties. It is an inhibitor of TETRAHYDROFOLATE DEHYDROGENASE and prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolate, necessary for synthesis of thymidylate, an essential component of DNA.

A type of inflammatory arthritis associated with PSORIASIS, often involving the axial joints and the peripheral terminal interphalangeal joints. It is characterized by the presence of HLA-B27-associated SPONDYLARTHROPATHY, and the absence of rheumatoid factor.

Heterogeneous group of arthritic diseases sharing clinical and radiologic features. They are associated with the HLA-B27 ANTIGEN and some with a triggering infection. Most involve the axial joints in the SPINE, particularly the SACROILIAC JOINT, but can also involve asymmetric peripheral joints. Subsets include ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS; REACTIVE ARTHRITIS; PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS; and others.

An enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the reaction 7,8-dihyrofolate and NADPH to yield 5,6,7,8-tetrahydrofolate and NADPH+, producing reduced folate for amino acid metabolism, purine ring synthesis, and the formation of deoxythymidine monophosphate. Methotrexate and other folic acid antagonists used as chemotherapeutic drugs act by inhibiting this enzyme. (Dorland, 27th ed) EC 1.5.1.3.

A rare, benign rheumatologic disorder or syndrome characterized by hyperostosis and soft tissue ossification between the clavicles and the anterior part of the upper ribs. It is often associated with the dermatologic disorder palmoplantar pustulosis, particularly in Japan. Careful diagnosis is required to distinguish it from psoriatic arthritis, OSTEITIS DEFORMANS, and other diseases. Spondylitis of pustulosis palmaris et plantaris is one of the possible causes; also, evidence suggests one origin may be bone infection. Bone imaging is especially useful for diagnosis. It was originally described by Sonozaki in 1974.
