Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
Transfer of HEMATOPOIETIC STEM CELLS from BONE MARROW or BLOOD between individuals within the same species (TRANSPLANTATION, HOMOLOGOUS) or transfer within the same individual (TRANSPLANTATION, AUTOLOGOUS). Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been used as an alternative to BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION in the treatment of a variety of neoplasms.
Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Clonal hematopoietic stem cell disorders characterized by dysplasia in one or more hematopoietic cell lineages. They predominantly affect patients over 60, are considered preleukemic conditions, and have high probability of transformation into ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA.
Hematopoietic Cell Growth Factors
These growth factors comprise a family of hematopoietic regulators with biological specificities defined by their ability to support proliferation and differentiation of blood cells of different lineages. ERYTHROPOIETIN and the COLONY-STIMULATING FACTORS belong to this family. Some of these factors have been studied and used in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and bone marrow failure syndromes.
Graft Rejection
An immune response with both cellular and humoral components, directed against an allogeneic transplant, whose tissue antigens are not compatible with those of the recipient.
Dose-response Relationship, Immunologic
A specific immune response elicited by a specific dose of an immunologically active substance or cell in an organism, tissue, or cell.
Clinical Trials
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety of 131I-anti-B1 Radioimmunotherapy when combined with high-dose BEAM or BEAC chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Th...

To determine survival outcomes for patients with chemosensitive brest cancer after treatment with high dose chemotherapy
High Dose Sequential Therapy and Autologous Stem Cell Rescue for Multiple Myeloma
To assess the role of autologous hematopoietic cell rescue in the treatment of multiple myeloma.
Transplantation for Patients With Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
To evaluate the role of high dose therapy and autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
