Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Lethal Dose 50
The dose amount of poisonous or toxic substance or dose of ionizing radiation required to kill 50% of the tested population.
Maximum Tolerated Dose
The highest dose of a biologically active agent given during a chronic study that will not reduce longevity from effects other than carcinogenicity. (from Lewis Dictionary of Toxicology, 1st ed)
Dose Fractionation
Administration of the total dose of radiation (RADIATION DOSAGE) in parts, at timed intervals.
Mice, Inbred Sencar
Mice selectively bred for hypersusceptibility to two-stage chemical skin carcinogenesis. They are also hypersusceptible to UV radiation tumorigenesis with single high-dose, but not chronic low-dose, exposures. SENCAR (SENsitive to CARcinogenesis) mice are used in research as an animal model for tumor production.
Radiotherapy, Conformal
Radiotherapy where there is improved dose homogeneity within the tumor and reduced dosage to uninvolved structures. The precise shaping of dose distribution is achieved via the use of computer-controlled multileaf collimators.
Clinical Trials
The primary purpose of this study is to determine whether a combination of ACP-103 (the study medication) with either haloperidol or risperidone will show antipsychotic efficacy and that i...
The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of risperidone and risperidone plus low dose of haloperidol in the acutely schizophrenic patients.
The purpose of this study is a noninferiority comparison of the orthostatic tolerability of a dose of 12 mg extended-release (ER) OROS paliperidone with the current recommended initial tit...
Risperidone Maintenance Treatment in Schizophrenia
This study set out to determine the duration of maintenance treatment with therapeutic risperidone dose in schizophrenia. In a multi-center, open label, randomized, controlled study design...
Study to Assess the Efficacy, Safety, and Tolerability of AZD8529 in Adult Schizophrenia Patients
The purpose of this study is to determine whether treatment with daily oral dose of AZD8529 40 mg administered over 28 days is safe, well tolerated and improves main symptoms of schizophre...

Efficacy and safety of 2 risperidone doses were evaluated in children and adolescents with autism. Patients (N = 96; 5-17 years), received risperidone (low-dose: 0.125 mg/day [20 to 45 kg] or hig...
Hyperprolactinemia is a frequent consequence of treatment with risperidone. Recent studies have suggested that aripiprazole, a partial dopamine agonist, reduces the prolactin response to antipsychotic...
Monotherapy is recommended for schizophrenia treatment, but the risk-benefit issue of antipsychotic drug combination (except for clozapine) remains unclear. Risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic drug...
The increased proportion of the high-affinity state of dopamine D2/3 receptors (D2,high) is assumed to correlate with dopamine hypersensitivity, implying a relationship with psychotic symptoms observe...
Ginkgo biloba has been reported to affect the neurotransmitter system and to have antioxidant properties that could impact the pathogenesis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Based on these studies, we deci...
