Clinical Assessment of the Use of the R8 Respiratory Rate Counter in Post-Operative Recovery in Adults and Adolescents
Summary
The study aims to to establish whether or not measurement of respiratory rate taken using the Anaxsys Technology Ltd Respiratory Counter (R8 Counter) are equivalent to manual respiratory rate counting methods in patients receiving oxygen via a face mask.

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
Vital Signs
The signs of life that may be monitored or measured, namely pulse rate, respiratory rate, body temperature, and blood pressure.
Respiratory Rate
The number of times an organism breathes with the lungs (RESPIRATION) per unit time, usually per minute.
Enflurane
An extremely stable inhalation anesthetic that allows rapid adjustments of anesthesia depth with little change in pulse or respiratory rate.
Anesthetics, Inhalation
Gases or volatile liquids that vary in the rate at which they induce anesthesia; potency; the degree of circulation, respiratory, or neuromuscular depression they produce; and analgesic effects. Inhalation anesthetics have advantages over intravenous agents in that the depth of anesthesia can be changed rapidly by altering the inhaled concentration. Because of their rapid elimination, any postoperative respiratory depression is of relatively short duration. (From AMA Drug Evaluations Annual, 1994, p173)
Porcine Respiratory Coronavirus
A mutant strain of TRANSMISSIBLE GASTROENTERITIS VIRUS causing mild or subclinical respiratory infections in young SWINE. It may also play a role in post-weaning porcine respiratory disease complex, especially when combined with other respiratory agents.

Substantial Equivalence Study for Kai Sensors RSpot Non-Contact Respiratory Rate Spot Check
The purpose of this study is to determine whether the respiratory rate provided by the Kai Sensors RSpot 100 Non-Contact Respiratory Rate Spot Check is as accurate as that provided by the...
Smart Capnography Respiratory Index in Post Anesthesia Patients
The smart capnography respiratory index is a software tool that constitutes a representation of 4 parameters: End Tidal CO2, respiratory rate, O2 saturation and heart rate already displaye...
Correlation Of Respiratory Rate Level And Trend Evaluation in Heart Failure Patients
The objective of the study is to determine if there is any relationship between respiratory rate and Heart Failure events.
Effects of Remifentanil on Respiratory Function in Mechanically Ventilated Patients
Sedation is widely used in mechanically ventilated patients. Propofol, benzodiazepines and opioids are the most used drugs. The study hypothesis is that sedation with remifentanil (an opio...

Respiratory and leg muscles perceived exertion during exercise at altitude.
We compared the rate of perceived exertion for respiratory (RPE,resp) and leg (RPE,legs) muscles, using a 10-point Borg scale, to their specific power outputs in 10 healthy male subjects during increm...
Contribution of morphine and morphine-6-glucuronide to respiratory depression in a child.
A morphine plasma concentration/respiratory rate relationship has been described for both adults and children although that of its metabolite, morphine-6-glucuronide, remains uncertain. We describe th...
BACKGROUND: In recent years, the optimal location for noninvasive mechanical ventilation (NIMV) has been a matter of debate. Our aim was to detect the effectiveness of NIMV in acute hypercapnic respir...
Effect of precision aiming on respiration and the postural-respiratory synergy.
Precision manual tasks require a stable postural background which might be facilitated by respiratory modulations. We investigated the influence of performing a manual precision aiming task on respira...
Deriving respiration from photoplethysmographic pulse width.
A method for deriving respiration from the pulse photoplethysmographic (PPG) signal is presented. This method is based on the pulse width variability (PWV), and it exploits the respiratory information...
