Study Comparing Piperacillin-tazobactam Versus Piperacillin-tazobactam Plus Glycopeptide in Neutropenic Patients

The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy and tolerance of piperacillin-tazobactam versus piperacillin-tazobactam plus glycopeptide as initial empiric antibiotic treatment for fever...

Pharmacokinetics of Piperacillin/Tazobactam in Patients Treated by Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy

The pharmacokinetics of piperacillin/tazobactam will be evaluated in twenty septic patients with renal failure undergoing continuous veno-venous hemodiafiltration.

Moxifloxacin Plus Metronidazole Versus Piperacillin/Tazobactam for the Treatment of Patients With Intra-Abdominal Abscesses

The study is contemplating the antibiotic therapy of intraabdominal abscesses. These abscesses are a serious problem in surgical practice. Associated pathophysiologic effects as for exampl...

Treating pneumonia in critical care in the United Kingdom following failure of initial antibiotic: a cost-utility analysis comparing meropenem with piperacillin/tazobactam.

BACKGROUND: Treating patients admitted to critical care with severe pneumonia requires timely intervention with an effective antibiotic. This reduces the risk of dying of pneumonia and minimises compl...

Rationale and evidence for extended infusion of piperacillin-tazobactam.

Purpose The pharmacodynamics and therapeutic effects of extended-infusion (EI) piperacillin-tazobactam therapy are reviewed, with an emphasis on growing evidence of its advantages over traditional inf...

The role of surveillance cultures in the prediction of susceptibility patterns of Gram-negative bacilli in the intensive care unit.

Surveillance cultures may detect colonisation with drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria and can be hypothesised to guide appropriate initial antibiotic treatment for intensive care unit (ICU) patient...

Changes in antibiotic usage and susceptibility in nosocomial Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas isolates following the introduction of ertapenem to hospital formulary.

SUMMARYThere is concern that widespread usage of ertapenem may promote cross-resistance to other carbapenems. To analyse the impact that adding ertapenem to our hospital formulary had on usage of othe...

Piperacillin/Tazobactam monotherapy versus piperacillin/tazobactam plus amikacin as initial empirical therapy for febrile neutropenia in children with acute leukemia.

The purpose of this study is to compare the efficacy and safety of piperacillin/tazobactam (PIP/TAZO) versus PIP/TAZO plus amikacin in febrile neutropenic children with acute leukemia (AL). Children w...
