Effect of Rosuvastatin on Lipid Levels in Patients With Metabolic Syndrome
The primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of rosuvastatin therapy on plasma lipid profile (LDL, HDL, total cholesterol, triglyceride) in patients with metabolic syndrome.

Metabolic Syndrome X
A cluster of metabolic risk factors for CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES and TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS. The major components of metabolic syndrome X include excess ABDOMINAL FAT; atherogenic DYSLIPIDEMIA; HYPERTENSION; HYPERGLYCEMIA; INSULIN RESISTANCE; a proinflammatory state; and a prothrombotic (THROMBOSIS) state. (from AHA/NHLBI/ADA Conference Proceedings, Circulation 2004; 109:551-556)
ANGINA PECTORIS or angina-like chest pain with a normal coronary arteriogram and positive EXERCISE TEST. The cause of the syndrome is unknown. While its recognition is of clinical importance, its prognosis is excellent. (Braunwald, Heart Disease, 4th ed, p1346; Jablonski Dictionary of Syndromes & Eponymic Diseases, 2d ed). It is different from METABOLIC SYNDROME X, a syndrome characterized by INSULIN RESISTANCE and HYPERINSULINEMIA, that has increased risk for cardiovascular disease.
A condition of metabolic imbalance that is caused by complications of initially feeding a severely malnourished patient too aggressively. Usually occurring within the first 5 days of refeeding, this syndrome is characterized by WATER-ELECTROLYTE IMBALANCE; GLUCOSE INTOLERANCE; CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS; and DIARRHEA.
Brain Diseases, Metabolic
Acquired or inborn metabolic diseases that produce brain dysfunction or damage. These include primary (i.e., disorders intrinsic to the brain) and secondary (i.e., extracranial) metabolic conditions that adversely affect cerebral function.
A syndrome that results from abnormally low secretion of THYROID HORMONES from the THYROID GLAND, leading to a decrease in BASAL METABOLIC RATE. In its most severe form, there is accumulation of MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDES in the SKIN and EDEMA, known as MYXEDEMA.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the dose-related effect of treatment with rosuvastatin on production and fractional catabolism of apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) and apolipoprotein...
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of treatment with rosuvastatin on the capacity of plasma to promote cholesterol efflux, which is the first and likely rate limiting s...
This is a 3-month, randomized, parallel-group study with 2 periods, comparing the efficacy and the safety of rosuvastatin 20 mg versus atorvastatin 80 mg in patients with an acute coronary...
A study to evaluate the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) lowering efficacy of the addition of ezetimibe to rosuvastatin compared with doubling dose of rosuvastatin in patients t...
The investigators hypothesize that pravastatin and rosuvastatin may have different metabolic effects in hypercholesterolemic patients.
Rosuvastatin has been used for treatment of dyslipidaemia and metabolic syndrome, but the efficacy has not yet been tested in men with late-onset hypogonadism (LOH). To assess and compare the efficacy...
The aim of this study was to explore potential herb-drug interaction between danshensu or ursolic acid and rosuvastatin. Compared to the control group given rosuvastatin alone, the concurrent use of d...
Abstract Objective: This study used simulation to compare the effectiveness of rosuvastatin 20 mg vs. atorvastatin 40 mg, and rosuvastatin 40 mg vs. atorvastatin 80 mg in preventing MACE in a range of...
We tested the effects of rosuvastatin combined with ramipril on atheroma volume and its mechanism in de novo, intermediate coronary artery disease.
The first entry to statins via lactonized side chain is reported, exemplified by the synthesis of rosuvastatin. The key step is Wittig coupling of (2S,4R)-4-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)-6-oxotetrahydr...
