Prospective Randomized Trial Comparing the New Endovenous Procedures Versus Conventional Surgery for Varicose Veins Due to Great Saphenous Vein Incompetence
Through a prospective, multicenter RCT evaluate and compare the three new endovenous methods for great saphenous vein ablation (Radiofrequency, endovenous laser and foam sclerotherapy) versus high ligation and stripping. Procedure (proof-of-concept) and patient related (clinical outcome) factors will be studied.
Allocation: Randomized, Endpoint Classification: Safety/Efficacy Study, Intervention Model: Parallel Assignment, Masking: Double Blind (Subject, Caregiver, Investigator), Primary Purpose: Treatment
High Ligation of the Great saphenous Vein, Endovenous Laser Ablation, Radiofrequency ablation, Foam Sclerotherapy

Medical and Biotech [MESH] Definitions
The vein which drains the foot and leg.
Keratectomy, Subepithelial, Laser-assisted
A surgical technique to correct REFRACTIVE ERRORS of the EYE, such as MYOPIA and ASTIGMATISM. In this method, a flap of CORNEAL EPITHELIUM is created by exposure of the area to dilute alcohol. The flap is lifted and then replaced after laser ablation of the subepithelial CORNEA.
A technique utilizing a laser coupled to a catheter which is used in the dilatation of occluded blood vessels. This includes laser thermal angioplasty where the laser energy heats up a metal tip, and direct laser angioplasty where the laser energy directly ablates the occlusion. One form of the latter approach uses an EXCIMER LASER which creates microscopically precise cuts without thermal injury. When laser angioplasty is performed in combination with balloon angioplasty it is called laser-assisted balloon angioplasty (ANGIOPLASTY, BALLOON, LASER-ASSISTED).
A short thick vein formed by union of the superior mesenteric vein and the splenic vein.
High-intensity Focused Ultrasound Ablation
The use of focused, high-frequency sound waves to destroy tissue. It is sometimes used in conjunction with but is distinct from INTERVENTIONAL ULTRASONOGRAPHY.

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) after Venous Thermoablation Techniques: Rates of Endovenous Heat-induced Thrombosis (EHIT) and Classical DVT after Radiofrequency and Endovenous Laser Ablation in a Single Centre.
INTRODUCTION: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after varicose vein surgery is well recognised. Less well documented is endovenous heat-induced thrombosis (EHIT), thrombus extension into a deep vein after su...
