Biological Capital = Canada’s biological capital consists of 10% of the worlds forest, 60 million hectares of in-production agricultural land, millions of hectares of abandoned or marginal land. With all this, and only 0.5% of the population Canada has immense biological capital.
Capturing Canada’s Green Advantage = BIOCAP is Capturing Canada’s Green Advantage by building research partnerships to encourage productive, competitive and sustainable methods for using our country’s biological capital to create clean, sustainable forms of energy, fight climate change and encourage rural economic development. A Sustainable Bioeconomy = An economic system where the ‘biological capital’ of a region provides environmental values as well as basic building blocks for industry and raw materials for energy.
