The Company of Biologists Company Profile

The Company of Biologists is a non-profit organization whose objectives are the advancement and promotion of research in, and the study of, all branches of biology. Company Directors act as trustees and are active biologists, librarians or computer scientists, whose expertise is valuable for the running of the Company. Their task is to ensure that the Company continues to provide a relevant and worthwhile service to the international community of biologists.

The Company was established in 1925 through the inspiration and business skill of G. P. Bidder, who was concerned to make a success of the affairs of The British Journal of Experimental Biology. It is a Company limited by Guarantee and not having a share capital. Its charitable status has the condition that none of the Directors receive any remuneration for services rendered to the Company.
