CANVAC, the Canadian Network for Vaccines and Immunotherapeutics, is a unique network of almost 80 of the most highly recognised Canadian scientists specialising in the fields of immunology, virology, and molecular biology. CANVAC researchers, who are faculty members selected from 21 Canadian universities and research institutes are working in collaboration with: 23 corporate partners from the biopharmaceutical industry in Canada and elsewhere
government departments and agencies
several patient and consumer groups
towards the development of safe and effective vaccines to protect or treat Canadians and people around the globe from cancer and life-threatening viral infections.

CANVAC's mission is achieved through focused, results-oriented research geared toward the creation of knowledge and intellectual property, transfer to clinical applications, and its subsequent commercialisation into useful, effective and accessible products.

As a Network of Centres of Excellence hosted by the Université de Montréal, CANVAC is supported by an annual grant of $4.7 million from the Government of Canada, along with substantial investments from its private sector partners.
