Founded in 1981 as a Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), National Medical Health Card Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: NMHC) now provides service to nearly 9 million lives. Our clients include managed care organizations, Taft-Hartley and multi-employer union groups, third-party administrators, self-insured employer groups, workers’ compensation plans, school districts and municipalities.NMHC offers expertise in pharmacy benefits management, health information management, home delivery pharmacy and specialty pharmacy, along with a deep understanding of client and member needs. While clients historically have chosen NMHC for the strength of our traditional PBM services to handle claims, establish flexible formularies and control drug spending, now plan sponsors are embracing our innovative Total Healthcare Solutions approach.
The focus of NMHC’s Total Healthcare Solutions is on outcomes — better health outcomes for members and better cost outcomes for plan sponsors. This unique approach is based on our ability to access and analyze a rich set of pharmacy and medical claims data across the entire health plan. With this information and intelligence in hand, we can predict member health outcomes based on claims history and benchmarks, communicate with physicians, pharmacists and patients, and help intervene with improved care and cost-controlling strategies.
With respect to client contracting, NMHC is committed to complete transparency of our business practices and an open-book policy on revenue sources. Our clients can audit any and all aspects of their contract at any time, ensuring that NMHC is acting at all times in their best interest.
