04:03 EST 23rd November 2017 | BioPortfolio

Enobia Pharma, a privately held Canadian Biotech company located in Montreal, was created in 1997 with a portfolio of technologies discovered at the University of Montreal. Enobia Pharma’s three main programs focus on the identification and development of specific therapies for bone disorders.
The goal of the first program is to demonstrate the therapeutic benefit of enzyme replacement therapy in children suffering from a genetic disease affecting bone mineralization and phosphate metabolism;Enobia scientists engineered a soluble form of the human Phex enzyme for i.v. administration;
Results in animal models have shown improvement in bone related parameters;
Enobia Pharma has the most advanced product in development worldwide for this disease and is looking to apply for commercialization by 2009. The second program is evaluating small enzyme inhibitors and Osteocrin as osteogenic agents. Pre-clinical evaluation of inhibitors in bone lesions will be completed by 2Q 2006. Enobia Pharma also expects to have a systemic active drug by 4Q 2005 for osteoporosis.The third program rests on a functional genomic discovery platform (GeneSelector™) to enable the discovery of novel protein/peptide based therapeutics for bone lesions and osteoporosis. Currently, the company is taking its lead target, osteocrin, through a battery of in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo assays for final validation.
