The IBIS iSPR is a novel imaging SPR instrument that allows the simultaneous monitoring of multiple binding interactions to the surface of one and the same sensor. This way, it can be used for real-time detection of the possible binding events to the many spots of a micoarray, for example. Thanks to it flexibility, the instrument can also be accomodated to be used as a, more conventionel, 1- and 2-channel measurement set-up. Two different instrument configurations are available:
1. For the 'basic configuration', the liquid system consists of a syringe pump, a drain pump and an autosampler with a double needle. This needle consists of an inner (inlet) needle that leads to a buffer bottle, and an outer (outlet) needle that leads via the drain pump to the waste bottle. The basic configuration instrument can be used in combination with a one-compartment cuvette, e.g. in the way the former 1-channel IBIS I was used, or for measuring on (micro) arrays. The system also can be used in combination with a negative pressure driven flow-cell, which is particularly useful in experiments with organic solvent.
2. For the 'plus configuration', the liquid system is extended with a second syringe pump. This configuration is very useful if one wants to use a 2-channel cuvette (comparable to the way the former IBIS II was used) or a positive pressure driven flow-cell.
