Over fifty-five years of a warm and caring environment at the Louis Brier Jewish Home and Hospital, now part of the Dr. Irving and Phyliss Snider Campus for Jewish Seniors, is a heritage worth preserving. As the only Jewish home for seniors west of Winnipeg , the goal is to ensure that residents have the best quality of life and care now and in the future. Every day the services and programs our staff and volunteers provide enrich our elders' lives. Vancouver has one of North America 's fastest growing Jewish communities. Our population is not only growing, it is aging. Twenty-five percent of Canadians are now over the age of sixty-five. This means that the need for specialized housing and services will continue to grow rapidly in the coming years, particularly in terms of caring for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
From humble beginnings, the Snider Campus has grown and today provides a home for 217 residents in the Louis Brier Home and Hospital, and for up to 64 residents in the Weinberg Residence. The Snider Campus has a caring staff of almost 300 people.
The Dr. Irving and Phyliss Snider Campus for Jewish Seniors plans to meet these ever-increasing needs through program, service, and building expansion.
