LTCQ, Inc. was founded in 1992 as a data-driven consulting company by four leading academic experts in the field of long-term care: Barry Fogel, MD, Lewis Lipsitz, MD, Vincent Mor, Ph.D, and John Morris, Ph.D.
Dr. Mor, Chair of the Department of Community Health at Brown University, and Dr. Morris, a senior researcher at Boston’s Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged, were among the developers of the original Minimum Data Set (MDS) for nursing home resident assessment.
Drs. Fogel and Lipsitz are both geriatricians and professors at Harvard Medical School.
In 1995 the company raised capital, re-incorporated, hired full-time employees and launched a scalable information services business. The main service provided was risk adjusted clinical performance measurement and benchmarking based on MDS data.
