Lucent Medical Systems was established in January 1994 to develop and commercialize a technology for non-radiographic determination of position, orientation and motion of devices inserted in the body. Lucent's locating and tracking technology is based upon proprietary hardware and software for sensing and analyzing static magnetic fields. This technology can be applied to a variety of medical products including catheters, feeding tubes, endotracheal tubes, and surgical tools, which are commonly used in hospitals, physicians' offices, nursing homes and home care settings.
