National Genetics Institute (NGI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Laboratory Corporation of America, provides advanced clinical testing services to the biopharmaceutical industry and medical providers utilizing sophisticated applied genetics techniques. NGI has developed industry-leading assays for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis viruses A, B, and C (HAV, HBV, and HCV) and other infectious agents and has pioneered robust, sensitive, and automated methods for specimen nucleic acid testing. NGI screens the majority of the United States supply of Source Plasma for various infectious agents using these methods and has participated in numerous clinical studies in the area of infectious disease and oncology for major biopharmaceutical companies. NGI is licensed as a clinical laboratory provider by both state and federal agencies, participates in a number of approved quality control programs, and is FDA approved to perform individual and pooled plasma sample nucleic acid testing.
