Welcome! The University of Colorado Family Medicine Residency at Rose was built upon the oldest University-affiliated Community-based Generalist training program in the nation. Begun in 1947 as a two-year General Practice residency, the program converted to a three-year Family Medicine program in 1970. The program's mission is to train Family Physicians capable of practicing in a wide variety of settings. The residency highly values residents who are motivated adult learners and are interested in life-long education. The residency is rotational in nature with a strong presence in the model family medicine center. The program emphasizes the care of the whole person in the context of family and community. The Rose Family Medicine Residency Program has been training family physicians since 1970, the majority of whom are practicing in Colorado. The program is based at Rose Medical Center (RMC), a community hospital located near the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center campus. RMC is committed to graduate family medicine education. Graduates of the program are broadly trained to practice in multiple settings.
