ATLANTA, June 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, The UPS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of UPS® (NYSE: UPS), announced it will donate over $10 million to non-profit, non-governmental and United Nations agencies organizations in 2015 for the purpose of increasing community safety around the world. Focus areas for donations include emergency preparedness, disaster relief response/recovery and road safety.
In 2014, the UPS Humanitarian Relief & Resilience program provided global relief partners with funds, in-kind support and supply chain expertise to support preparedness, emergency response and recovery capabilities. Among the key initiatives that will be supported in 2015 are:
"Enhancing the safety of communities by leveraging our core competencies and our philanthropy is a force multiplier," said Eduardo Martinez, president of The UPS Foundation. "Grants are critical in providing funding to address community safety, but at UPS, we go much farther than writing a check. Our expertise in logistics, supply chain management and road safety allows us to get involved in a deeply personal way from global employee volunteerism initiatives to loaning out our logistics executives to partner with non-profits around the world that are making an impact."
