Company lays claim to the next generation of wave surface shapes as part of its mission to deliver the most exciting ride experiences in the industry.
SAN DIEGO, June 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pacific Surf Designs, Inc., specialists in the design, manufacture, and installation of sheet wave surf simulators, announced today that it has been granted a patent (US 9,044,685) from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, recognizing the company's unique ride surface shapes, particularly those featured on the ProFlow Halfpipe and ProFlow Quarterpipe.

The company's continued research into developing novel and exciting wave shapes has led to an entirely new line of patent-protected products which are exclusively offered under Pacific Surf Designs. By allowing riders to take full advantage of the flow over each non-planar sidewall surface from the transition up to the lip line, both riders and spectators alike benefit from a more eye-catching attraction and an increased number of potential tricks and maneuvers. Venue owners benefit from having customers flock to the newest sheet wave concept at a cost that is marginally more than the older wave shapes out in the market.
"Currently, riders lack a choice in between a barreling wave where the rider risks ending up inverted or in some other compromising position and the gentle non-barreling wave popularized by the Flowrider and other comparable products," Pacific Surf Designs COO Richard Alleshouse said. "With our ProFlow Halfpipe and ProFlow Quarterpipe shapes, we are excited to bring some new ideas to an industry ready for the next big thing. We are very appreciative of the USPTO's recognition of our innovations and will continue to innovate. This patent rewards and reinforces our commitment to the advancement of the sport of flowboarding."
