Marc's employee Ray Benisek, a military veteran himself, presented the surprise. This is the second time this year that Eckrich and Marc's have honored a Cleveland-area military family.
The gift of groceries is part of the ongoing campaign by Eckrich to honor military families through its partnership with Operation Homefront, a national non-profit that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of service members and wounded warriors. Eckrich, in its fourth year of supporting Operation Homefront, recently surpassed $1 million in monetary donations since the start of the program in 2012. Eckrich is a brand of Smithfield Foods.
"Marc's has been an excellent partner in helping Eckrich support, honor and thank military families throughout Ohio this summer," said Chuck Gitkin, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Smithfield Foods. "Marc's, like Eckrich, appreciates the sacrifices that these families have made. It is our honor to present the Weber family with $1,000 in free groceries."
