CHALFONT, Pa., Aug. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As a company that prides itself on creating remarkable experiences for customers and surrounding communities, AWeber is pleased to announce that it has granted Arizona State University (ASU) student, Falen Leyba, a $1,000 academic scholarship. Leyba's essay was the winning entry in an essay contest about the changes and growth of communication tools.
One of the marketing team members at AWeber, Christina DeRusso, described Leyba's writing as insightful and thought-provoking. "It was a real and accurate portrayal of the great progress this generation has made in communicative technology."
The questions posed by AWeber, to be answered in 500 words or less, were as follows:
How have communication tools and habits changed from your parents' generation, compared to yours? Has this been a positive, negative or neutral change, and why?
How do you think communication tools and habits will change for your children? Will this be a positive, negative or neutral change, and why?
Leyba's essay argued that the technological communication tools in today's world are entirely beneficial as she recognizes how some non-millennials feel that technology has replaced face-to-face human interaction. Leyba also mentioned the advantages of modern communication tools such as video calls that connect people in different countries and international news that reaches people everywhere in minutes.
The AWeber scholarship award is open to high school seniors as well as college undergraduates. The goal of this annual initiative is to encourage young people to expand their curiosity, knowledge, and understanding of the application of modern technology. This year, AWeber received over 1,000 submissions and found Leyba's approach, writing style, and language to be the most compelling.
A group of team members at AWeber carefully read through each essay and would like to thank all students who entered for their submissions. AWeber also congratulates Falen Leyba on her award and wishes her the best of luck during her time at ASU. To read more about Leyba's winning essay, visit the AWeber blog.
