SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ARUP Laboratories, a leading reference laboratory and a nonprofit enterprise of the University of Utah and its Department of Pathology, announced today that it has been awarded a new multisource group-purchasing agreement with Premier Inc., a healthcare alliance of more than 3,400 U.S. hospitals and 110,000 other providers.
ARUP has been a Premier supplier partner since 1997. During this two decades-long relationship, ARUP has served a growing number of Premier alliance members. In 2010, Premier honored ARUP with a Supplier Performance Award, marking the first time a national reference laboratory received the award. ARUP was recognized for its outstanding management of Premier agreements and drive toward the mutual goal of providing both clinical and financial benefits to hospital members of the Premier alliance.
In 2013, ARUP was once again recognized with the Premier Supplier Legacy Award, which honors long-standing contracted suppliers that support Premier members through exceptional customer service, value creation, and commitment to lower costs.
"We greatly value our relationship with Premier and the opportunity to offer exceptional, consistent laboratory services to Premier members," said Julie Altwies, ARUP senior VP and director of sales. "Our longstanding partnership enables us to pursue our common goal of providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare."
Under the terms of the agreement, ARUP will continue to serve as an authorized provider of laboratory testing services for Premier alliance members. In addition to offering Premier members tests and test combinations, including an extensive pediatric test menu, ARUP promotes business development, cost containment, and revenue enhancement.
"We feel that ARUP's focus on eliminating unnecessary testing, as well as its extensive test menu, customized logistics, and 24/7 client support, complement Premier's strategic mission," stated Nancy Andes, senior VP and director of marketing at ARUP. "We look forward to continued success as we enter our third decade of a collaborative partnership with Premier."
