ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - August 12, 2015) - Hatch Medical, L.L.C., a medical device incubator and technology brokerage firm, announced today that it has been retained by SonoFAST, Inc. (www.sonofast.com) to broker the license or sale of its innovative, dual-surface ultrasound-coupling hydrogel technology platform.
It has been estimated that over 100 million diagnostic and interventional ultrasound procedures are performed each year in the U.S. for a variety of applications, including pregnancy, lithotripsy, biopsies, drainage procedures and vein embolization. One universal element that binds a majority of these procedures together is the use of ultrasound gel. Necessary but unpleasant, ultrasound gel facilitates the transmission of sound waves from the ultrasound source to the patient. Ultrasound gel is often described as a cold, slimy substance that turns an otherwise innocuous procedure into something unpleasant for both patient and operator.
SonoFAST's novel, dual-surface solid hydrogel technology incorporates an adhesive surface on one side, allowing for non-slip contact to the ultrasound probe or lithotripter. The opposing side provides a lubricious pad-to-patient surface facilitating the effortless movements of an ultrasound probe or the positioning of a patient undergoing lithotripsy with virtually no residue. The material's acoustic properties are very similar to that of water and tissue, resulting in minimal acoustic impedance and greater transmission of ultrasonic sound waves. The SonoFAST™ pad performs as well as, or better than its competitors without the mess. Conveniently packaged for single patient use, SonoFAST makes ultrasound clean, comfortable and simple.
"We look forward to working with Hatch Medical to secure a global partner committed to the remarkable potential of the SonoFAST technology," commented Keller Tomassi, SonoFAST President. Paul Gianneschi, Managing Principal of Hatch Medical, L.L.C., added, "We're very pleased to be working with the SonoFAST team on this exciting technology, and are not surprised that this bright group has devised such a creative solution to what others might consider a mundane problem."
Hatch Medical is currently accepting offers for the acquisition or license of the SonoFAST technology and its associated assets through an exclusive agreement.
