WELLESLEY, Mass., Aug. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- New Century Health (NCH) today announced a multi-year collaboration with one of the largest community based multi-specialty oncology practices in Illinois. Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois (CCSI) selected New Century Health as its partner for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' value-based Oncology Care Model (OCM) initiative. In this collaborative relationship, New Century Health will provide a care management platform to help the CCSI physicians to continue to deliver state-of-the-art cancer care under the new CMS model.
"New Century Health's reputation as an innovator in value-based specialty care is outstanding," said Dr. James L. Wade III, President and Founder of Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois. "Our decision to collaborate with them is founded on their unique physician partnership approach and our belief that their care management platform provides our physicians the clinical, analytical and care coordination tools needed to deliver the best care for individual patients and their families."
Oncology care is in an unparalleled state of change. Rapid advances in innovative therapies, while contributing to record numbers of cancer survivors, are also contributing to a complex array of challenges and rising costs. New Century Health provides patient specific evidence-based information on treatment selection, affordability, and outcome. The recent "2017 State of Cancer Care in America" report published by the American Society of Clinical Oncology, noted that medical practices are under considerable strain and "against the backdrop of a growing patient population, oncology practices report increasing administrative burden and cost-saving measures are draining resources and squeezing time spent with patients." The CCSI and NCH collaboration will focus on this challenge by aligning treatment choices of the greatest value with each patient's unique characteristics.
"We are delighted to partner with Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois," said Dr. Atul Dhir, Chief Executive Officer of New Century Health. "Given the unprecedented changes in the cancer care landscape, oncology practices are under tremendous pressure to deliver high quality care under the new reimbursement models. Over the past 15 years, NCH has developed advanced clinical, analytics and technology tools to help oncology practices manage cancer care in a value-based environment. We are privileged to offer these tools and clinical capabilities to CCSI to help them succeed in OCM and to continue to deliver outstanding patient care."
