BOISE, Idaho and BOSTON, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kno2™, the company that optimizes patient document exchange for everyone in healthcare, today announced that it is joining CommonWell Health Alliance® as a Contributor Member to help break down barriers to nationwide data exchange. CommonWell is a not-for-profit trade association made up of diverse health IT stakeholders dedicated to creating universal access to health data via a person-centered, nationwide network.
To achieve this, CommonWell and its members have committed to using their diverse experience across the healthcare ecosystem to produce and deploy patient-centric interoperability services—including person enrollment, record location, patient identification and linking, and data query and retrieval. At their core, these services aim to solve the challenges associated with patient linking and identity at scale.
CommonWell and its members are actively deploying these services, which are now live at more than 5,000 provider sites nationwide, ranging from large acute hospitals to rural specialty practices. Furthermore, CommonWell is continually working with its members to extend interoperability to new users and care settings, including patient portals. Recently, CommonWell announced its commitment to work with members to build new application programming interfaces (APIs) that will complement existing services and increase the value of the CommonWell network to individuals and caregivers.
"Our members know the needs of the providers and patients across the healthcare continuum," said Nick Knowlton, membership committee chair for CommonWell Health Alliance and vice president at Brightree. "Kno2 will use their experience to contribute to CommonWell and its vision that health data should be accessible regardless of where care occurs."
Kno2 is healthcare's only cloud-based interoperability platform that aggregates all forms of standards-based exchange into a single solution, accessible through a simple set of APIs or an online account. Through Kno2's APIs, vendors can integrate within days, removing the burden of months of development time, money and resources. Healthcare providers can also become interoperable and exchange patient documents electronically across all of healthcare's major networks simply by registering online and completing the security steps to obtain their own Kno2 account. Whether through the APIs or an online account, virtually any healthcare technology platform or provider is positioned for better care coordination and patient outcomes by making the sharing of documents easy, cost-effective and secure.
"Kno2 is proud to join CommonWell Health Alliance in the quest to ensure secure data exchange across all care settings, from health systems to post-acute providers," said Therasa Bell, president and CTO of Kno2. "From the beginning, we have dedicated our efforts to improving the quality of care delivery by enabling providers to receive the right information, in the right format and at the right time, to support better clinical decision-making. Our lightweight, affordable platform brings interoperability to all healthcare stakeholders, positioning them for a successful transition to value-based care."
Kno2 joins the Alliance with the intention to contribute to making interoperability ubiquitous in healthcare. To date, more than 60 companies are members of CommonWell.
