Frank Uhlmann and colleagues use chromosome conformation capture (Hi-C) to study mitotic chromosome condensation in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, reporting that small chromatin domains in interphase are replaced by fewer and larger domains in mitosis.
