Dr. Robert Silverman, Clinical Associate Professor at Georgetown University, joins U.S. Dermatology Partners

U.S. Dermatology Partners (“USDP”) is pleased to announce that it has added an additional practice in the state of Virginia with the acquisition of Dr. Robert Silverman’s practice in Fairfax. U.S. Dermatology Partners is a physician-owned, dermatology-focused practice management organization.
Dr. Robert Silverman was born in Washington, DC and has practiced pediatric and general dermatology in Fairfax, Virginia since 1989. He has been voted as one of the “Top Docs” by his peers in Washingtonian Magazine each year since that time. Dr. Silverman graduated from Washington & Lee University in 1973, and the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville, in 1977. His pediatric residency was completed at the Children’s Hospital, Buffalo, New York in 1980. From 1980 to 1982, he was a clinical research fellow in pediatric dermatology at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He completed his dermatology training at the University Hospitals of Cleveland of Case Western Reserve University in 1984. Dr. Silverman was director of Pediatric Dermatology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio until 1989, when he moved back to the Washington, DC area.
He currently holds Clinical Associate Professor positions at both Georgetown University and the University of Virginia. He is a past President of the Washington, DC Dermatological Society and a past Director of the Dermatology Section at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Silverman is board-certified in Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Pediatric Dermatology. He served on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Dermatology and was President of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology in 2005. The Dermatology Foundation bestowed the Clark Finnerud Award as a clinical educator in private practice to Dr. Silverman in 2012, and in 2015 he served as Vice President of the American Board of Dermatology - completing a 9-year tenure on the board. Dr. Silverman is on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (“FIRST”), the Advocacy Oversight committee of the National Eczema Association, and the Eczema expert resource group of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has over 50 dermatology publications that include articles, chapters, and books, and is a sought-after speaker, locally and nationally, on all things Pediatric Dermatology. Dr. Silverman enjoys gardening, golf, photography, skiing, and hiking with his wife and two sons.
