Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana (Anthem) is committed to increasing consumer access to high-quality, affordable healthcare services. As part of this commitment, Anthem and Decatur County Memorial Hospital (Decatur) announced today that Anthem will be adding Decatur to its preferred list of care providers for its Anthem MediBlue Plus (HMO) and Anthem MediBlue Dual Advantage (HMO SNP) plans. Beginning on June 15, 2018, Decatur’s care providers will be considered in-network for these health plans, resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers compared to seeing a care provider outside of Anthem’s network.
“Anthem strives to make healthcare simpler for consumers by making it easier for them to see care providers in their communities and obtain the services they need to improve their health and wellbeing,” said David McNichols, President of Anthem’s Medicare Central Region. “We understand that healthcare costs are an important issue for older adults so we will continue to work on giving consumers access to high-quality care in our network, which will help make healthcare more affordable.”
For nearly 100 years, Decatur County Memorial Hospital has provided a wide range of healthcare services to the community in and around Decatur County. The hospital offers a complete line of healthcare services – both clinical and non-clinical – to ensure consumers get the quality care they want. Some of services include cancer treatment, emergency medical services/24 hour ambulance services, wound healing and vascular treatments, OB, inpatient treatment, a pain management center, a sleep clinic, massage therapy, 3D mammography, and a walk-in clinic.
“Decatur County Memorial Hospital has a long history of advancing the health and wellness of the people in Southeastern Indiana, and being in-network with Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans will help us continue that work,” said Rex McKinney, President/CEO at Decatur County Memorial Hospital. “We are excited to work with Anthem to ensure individuals coming through our doors receive the care they need, when they need it.”
Some consumers are eligible to enroll in a Medicare plan to enroll today. These individuals include those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits; consumers who qualify for a special enrollment period, such as those who recently moved; or individuals who are turning 65 and newly eligible for Medicare.
