Wearable devices (or wearables) combine technology-based objective measures with unsupervised patient monitoring, which is particularly appealing considering the restricted amount of time that physicians can spend with their patients. Unsupervised patient monitoring applications range from those tracking patient behaviour (for treatment decisions or endpoints in clinical trials) to the detection of early warning signals or telediagnosis.
